1970  Judith Heagstedt was appointed vice president for investment management and chief investment officer of Princeton Theological Seminary. She had been senior portfolio manager at Honeywell International in Morristown, N.J.    Ed Sbragia, senior vice president and winemaker for Beringer Vineyards in St. Helena, was named 2001 Winemaker of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle. The Chronicle praised him for the intuitive approach he learned, in part, from his farmer father.

1971  James Moore, D.V.M. '74, head of the Large Animal Department at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, was selected by the American Association of Equine Practitioners to present the Frank J. Milne State-of-the-Art Lecture at the association's annual convention in November. The honor, which included a bronze award, recognizes Moore's groundbreaking work in the field of equine medicine. Moore also received the World Veterinary Association's Research Award in 1999.

1972  John Morton recently traveled to Pakistan with an organization called Wheels for Humanity to distribute wheelchairs to those in need. Morton is an author and speaker who has presented seminars and workshops throughout the world to help people live a spiritual life amidst change and adversity. His book The Blessings Already Are was recently published by Mandeville Press.

1973  Mike Bellotti, head football coach for the University of Oregon, coached the West team to victory in the 77th annual East-West Shrine Game at Pac Bell Park in San Francisco in January. Nick Aliotti '76, an assistant at Oregon, was also on the West staff, and UC Davis student and Aggie quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan was a player.    Robert Brill, who was introduced to Edgar Allan Poe in a UC Davis class taught by Professor David Robertson, is working on a textbook about Poe's ties to Scotland. The book is based on five years of research and nine trips to Scotland, where Brill has visited the places Poe lived and traveled.    Joel Cleary is an orthopaedic surgeon with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Ft. Harrison, Mont., and is also working on a master's degree in health-care administration. He says that in his "spare" time, he and his wife enjoy the Montana outdoors with their eight children and adds, "I visited the Davis campus last summer during one of my rare visits to California, and I found that, in spite of all the new buildings, there are still lots of things that reminded me of the old UCD."    Lt. Col. Steve Corum, an Air Guard chaplain with the South Dakota Air National Guard, was deployed to southern France in November in support of Operation Reforge. He says he had a great time visiting the area, including participating in a Veterans Day ceremony in Marseilles with both French and American dignitaries.

1975  Thomas Bonte, a judge pro tempore in small claims and traffic court of the Stanislaus County Superior Court, is a candidate for superior court judge. The election, yet to be held at this writing, will be March 5.    Sterrett Harper, Cred. '76, was elected president of the California Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters for 2001-02. Harper owns his own business, Harper Claims Service, and has been married for over 20 years to Joey.
