2000 Justin Compton has recently started a Ph.D. program at Penn State in wildlife ecology. He worked as a research coordinator for the University of Georgia at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory for a year after receiving his M.S. in ecology from Michigan Technological University in 2002. • Melissa Morgan was promoted to branch manager of Vector Marketing's Eureka office. She joined the company in 2001 as a sales representative. • Research by Kathy Rousso, M.F.A., on morrales, bags made of the maguey plant, has led to an exhibition of the bags at the Museo Ixchel del Traje Indigena in Guatemala City. Rousso conducted her research with funding from a Fulbright grant. • Virginia Whitney Weigand won third place in the competition for the University of California Poet Laureate. The UC Davis graduate student won two other prizes from UC Davis in 2000. 2002 Hilary Gladstein is a staff writer for a Los Angeles magazine. She says that one of her recent articles, a cover story about cycling in Southern California, drew on the cycling knowledge she obtained in Davis. • Nicole Rabaud, Ph.D., received an Executive Fellowship from the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento. This grant in policy-making supports her work with the Governor's Office of Planning and Research. She previously worked in molecular biology and genetic engineering in Palo Alto.
