1970  Erin Dealey visits elementary schools to speak about writing and her 2002 book, Goldie Locks Has Chicken Pox (Atheneum)--a children's Book-of-the-Month main selection.    Larry Karns, M.S. '75, has been named senior project engineer in infrastructure services in the San Diego office of R.W. Beck, a consulting and engineering company. He has worked on water and wastewater projects in Europe, Asia, South America and Australia.

1972  Mike Chandler will retire in February from his position as fire chief for UC Davis. He has headed the fire department for the last eight years and has worked in the department since 1968, when he joined as a student firefighter. Chandler and his wife, Randi, live in Woodland.    Jan Lecklikner, a public defender for 24 years who currently works in San Francisco, was honored in 2002 with the Ruth Young award from an organization of women criminal defense attorneys, Women Defenders. She was also voted Best Female Public Defender of 2002 by her office.    Tom Venturino, M.A. '75, was named development officer for the UC Davis Cancer Center. He had been development officer at Jesuit High School for the past six years after serving as executive director of the UC Davis Chancellor's Club and of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Greater Sacramento area. He lives in Sacramento with his wife and two children.

1973  David Bischel, a registered professional forester, is president of the California Forestry Association.    Dan Robinson, president of Sligo Computer Services Inc., ran for councilmember in Ward 3 in Takoma Park, Md., on Nov. 4. He has lived there since 1985.

1974  Reno Cruz is president and CEO of packaging-equipment manufacturer Klockner KHS and works from the company's headquarters in Milwaukee. His daughter Kimberly graduated from UC Davis in 2002.    Mark Gailey of Chico returned to teaching as a high school resource specialist teacher after serving as assistant and head principal for several elementary schools.    Steve White, J.D., was appointed a judge to the Sacramento Superior Court. Previously, he was state inspector general of the California correctional system and, from 1989 to 1994, was Sacramento County district attorney.
